This is because a diamond with a excellent cut will have better facet arrangement which will allow light to pass through the diamond with greater ease. This ease translates to performance so you end up with a diamond that reflects light from it's pavillion facets well and one that also refracts and reflects light effectively off it's crown.

f you were to search an online stocklist of diamonds you would invariably find some diamonds that cost different amounts but that had the same colour, clarity, cut and carat. Obviously a company would not charge different amounts for the same diamond (after all how would sell the more expensive diamond this way), so there has to be some difference with the diamond. This is often regarding the quality of the rough diamond. So be aware that the rough diamond, which you will not know about, will impact the price so be wary of buying the cheaper diamond as you may not be getting as good a deal as you think.
